Finalisation of the Radbahn real-world lab project
The ‘Open Society Day’ on 15 June 2024 was the last event we hold on the test site. With this event, we handed over the test site to the public. Until the end of our project in September 2024, we will focus intensively on the final building blocks of the project: the evaluation of the test site, the publication of a documentary film about the project, our final report, the handover of the test site to the district and the official conclusion of the project.
We will publish the results of the evaluation and the final report and hope that many stakeholders - from politics, administration, science, initiatives and the interested public - can learn from our experiences. It is clear that the basic features of the test area will remain, including the cycle path, vegetation and lighting. Everything else is currently being scrutinised. We expect the first results of the surveys on the test site and the installations at the beginning of July, to which we want to respond. We want to retain the tried-and-tested features as far as possible, but we are looking for operators or a model that ensures maintenance. We are pleased that this has already been secured for the green spaces for another two and a half years. We are also in good talks about the continued operation of the test bed filter and the bicycle repair station.
In order to have enough time for the planned content-related work, we are reducing our communication activities during the summer months. However, we will keep you up to date with a few small updates on social media.
